Aoibhneas Centre

RMDA were engaged to design the external environment for Aoibhneas, a vital community facility providing support and accommodation for women and children. The project required a sensitive and thoughtful approach for an outdoor space that promoted wellbeing and a sense of calm.
The landscape design provides for a shared communal space. Planting strategies were selected to enhance biodiversity while also offering seasonal colour, texture, and sensory value.
This project demonstrates how considered external environments can enhance the therapeutic role of architecture while supporting resilience, dignity and empowerment for residents.
