Charlestown Phase 2 – Tribal Developments

Ronan MacDiarmada & Associates Ltd provided landscape architectural services for Charlestown Phase 2, a mixed-use development in north Dublin by Tribal Developments. The scheme comprises 375 residential apartments across six blocks, located above podium level on an active residential and retail campus.
 

RMDA’s landscape design focused on creating high-quality, liveable outdoor spaces that complement the urban context while offering privacy, usability, and visual cohesion. Key features include a fully enclosed private courtyard, extensive soft landscaping, and integrated children’s play areas—carefully designed to meet the needs of residents while ensuring durability and ease of maintenance in a high-occupancy setting.
 

The podium-level landscape is designed with structural depth constraints in mind, using lightweight soil systems, robust planting palettes, and considered spatial arrangements to maximise amenity and biodiversity. RMDA worked closely with the project architects and engineers to ensure seamless integration with the building layout, circulation, and overall site strategy.
