Pillo Hotel in Ashbourne

At the Pillo Hotel in Ashbourne, RMDA’s landscape design was central to creating a strong sense of arrival and a setting that reflects the quality of this four-star destination. Our design approach balanced function, durability, and atmosphere to deliver outdoor spaces that are as welcoming as the hotel’s interior.
The arrival forecourt was carefully planned to provide clear circulation, safe pedestrian movement, and a sense of openness. Structured tree planting and layered shrub beds frame the hotel frontage, softening the architecture while offering seasonal interest throughout the year. Durable paving materials and robust planting choices were selected to accommodate the high level of guest and event traffic without compromising on quality or character.
Beyond arrival, the landscape extends the hotel’s hospitality outdoors. Planting around seating areas and leisure facilities creates privacy, enhances comfort, and supports relaxation, while carefully chosen species contribute texture, colour, and biodiversity. The design ensures that every guest—from conference delegates to leisure visitors—experiences a coherent, attractive, and well-maintained environment.
RMDA’s landscape vision for the Pillo Hotel demonstrates how thoughtful design can elevate a commercial setting, transforming functional surroundings into memorable, people-focused places.
